When used with the operating microscope, the SDI erects the inverted image of a wide-angle observation system while maintaining correct stereopsis, thus enabling bimanual vitreous surgery under panoramic viewing conditions.
The SDI is available in three different versions:
| SDI 2 SDI 2e SDI 3c |
manually switched type electrically switched electrically switched for hands-free focusing |
POA POA POA |
The SDI fits below the oculars of most operating microscopes. In its neutral position, it does not interfere with the normal beam path of the microscope. Therefore, it can remain in place when the microscope is used for purposes other than vitreoretinal surgery.
